The directory is built from multiple public and official sources, then normalized into one traveler-oriented format.

Source types

  • Official campsite or municipality pages for rules, access, and operating notes where available.
  • Booking directories such as Rakuten Travel Camp, nap-camp, and Carstay for paid or bookable inventory.
  • Public free-camp and vehicle overnight references for place discovery, with source links preserved for verification.
  • Google rating snapshots are stored as non-live reference data and may differ from current Google Maps results.

Normalization

  • Fields are organized around shared facilities, rental items, payment methods, business information, parking, nearby facilities, and access.
  • Records from different sources are deduplicated where possible, but the official source should be treated as the final authority.
  • Machine translation is used for some multilingual fields and should be treated as guidance, not legal or operational confirmation.
