ScheduleA stately summer festival with about 700 years of tradition, designated an intangible folk cultural property of Fukuoka Prefecture, held every year on August 25 at Mizuta Tenmangu. Worshippers pray for good harvest and household safety by lighting some thousand scallop-shell lamps filled with rapeseed oil, boys in white headbands parade boldly through town, and the festival closes with stage events and fireworks.
